Hi There

I'm Rachel Moss-Hogg ....

Rachel Hogg is a North Chingford based Artist and Arts Educator, specialising in floral prints, mixed media drawing, acrylic painting and collage.

As an Artist and lover of the great out doors, Rachel delights in exploring the joy and sense of belonging that she find in soaking up the beauty, vibrancy and intricacy of nature through her art; drawing a lot of her inspiration from her beloved house plants and small E4 garden.

She is most at peace when enjoying a sunny walk in Epping Forest, visiting the ducks at Connaught Water or Rodding Valley Recreation Ground, listening to the birds as she strolls along the edge of the Chingford Golf Course up to Pole Hill Obelisk. Where she likes to soak up the view of London, while dreaming up her next art piece before heading back to her home based studio.

She loves meeting other local creative souls and is currently a member of CADOS Chingford Amateur Dramatics Society and a regular local exhibitor.

The start of something new

For as long as I can remember I've always enjoyed making art, my mum has a little folder of artworks I've been making since I was 5 years old. Yet, I haven't always had the courage to follow my dreams and it wasn't until after my under graduate degree in youth work & theology, that I released how much I was missing by not actively pursuing creativity in my day to day.

It was in 2019 that I decided to make a u-turn in my creative journey, to go back to school to complete an MA in Fine Art and turning my spare room into a studio. It was not long after  that I decided to take the plunge and set up my own creative arts business teaching and exhibition art in my local area. I wanted to be present in my local community, know my neighbours and encourage the development of the arts in and around Epping Forest.

I have found Art to be really life giving, when I'm lost in the creative process of making a new piece, problem solving and idea generation. It is often in art that I find relief from the stresses of the day, can express my gratitude, love of life and appreciation for creation. I love to learn and get excited about discovering new processes and techniques and it is this joyful escapism and wellbeing boost that I hope to provide to my views and students.
